Some poorly scanned pages makes reading confusing sometimes. One star but add 4 stars to that review if rhunder are 12 year old me. While a little bit shallow with the characters, this book delivers with vivid battle scenes and great writing. Big mechs get blown up real good.
Ian Douglas SF series: Keith writes it far bloodier than anything the modern Black Library would allow today. Feb 23, Michael T Bradley rated it did not like it. What dooms the book is that the characters are drawn so shallowly that to call them 1 dimensional might do them too much credit.
entsccheidung I devoured this book back inand I can only call it a bit painful to read today. I first read the Battletech series around 20 years ago when I was playing the boardgame that the series is based upon. This book is a good introduction to the Battletech universe with some decent character development and world building.
The peripheral characters feel similarly thundeer and two-dimensional, making it difficult to care about their fates, and all the setting exposition and dull fight scenes make the book feel like a scenario book or AAR.
The world, combat, and mechs did not disappoint.
As a fan entcsheidung the setting, I’ve got to say I enjoyed the book. The great thing about the novels is that they stand apart from the tabletop game.
