They discover that the photo-cell banks that provide life support to the base are short on selenium and will soon fail. Runaround is notable for featuring the first explicit appearance of the Three Laws of Robotics, which had previously only been implied in Asimov’s robot stories.

This is an exact transcription of the laws. I liked it a lot, very funny. Powell places runaeound in danger by dismounting from the robot which he rode and by walking in the Mercurian sun-exposed area.
